3D / 4D Scan 24 - 32 weeks

Having a 4D scan is the most magical experience. See the little life growing inside you; making faces, sucking its thumb and even smiling. Don’t miss this once in a pregnancy opportunity… If you wait too long, the moment will be gone forever.

A 4D scan can be done at any stage of your pregnancy. However, the best results are often obtained between 24 – 32 weeks, with the optimum time being 26 - 29 weeks for single pregnancies and 22 - 27 weeks for multiple pregnancies.

Prior to 22 weeks the baby will appear quite skinny. After 34 weeks the baby will be getting very big and there will not be as much amniotic fluid around the baby. The baby is also more likely to be head down so it can be more difficult to see the face. Of course, results are entirely dependent on the position of the baby and many other factors. Please note: The quality of the 3D images we are able to obtain depends on many factors such as, position of the baby, amount of amniotic fluid in front of the area being scanned and amount of tissue the sound wave needs to travel through ie: Mum's tummy, placenta, cord etc. If your baby is not in a suitable position during this time and we are not able to obtain any images we will invite you back for one further appointment free of charge.
